Pineau Cross with Faceted Black Onyx

Product Description

Some genius ideas come about by complete accident. The history of Pineau starts in 1589, when a winemaker added wine to a barrel he presumed to be empty. It wasn't - there was a little cognac still left. A few years later, the 'mistake' was discovered to be quite delicious and was christened as the French aperitif Pineau.

The Fleur de Lis is historically associated with the French monarchy, the icon has long been used as a royal emblem, appearing on countless European coats of arms and flags over the centuries.

This medallion, created to celebrate this amazing story, is brass and silver and is two-sided. It hangs on faceted black onyx.
